Bawean Island

Bawean Island in Gresik Regency is often referred to as the paradise of Gresik. The reason is that Bawean Island has a lot of beauty that makes it interesting to visit. Bawean Island has many natural treasures that are very beautiful and unique, although it may sound foreign to some people. Bawean Island is the outermost island of the Santri City, about 120 kilometres from the centre of Gresik Regency. The island’s population is predominantly Bawean, and is located in two sub-districts: Sangkapura sub-district and Tambak sub-district.

The island has many other tourist attractions besides these seven. It is suitable for those who love nature trips. Bawean Island’s culinary is something to try because of its natural beauty. You can sample specialities such as kella celok, koncok-koncok, fish crackers, petis bawean and more. There are also many public facilities here, including tour boats, tour guides, lodging, car hire, restaurants, mosques, and some additional facilities.

  1. Bawean Island

This island is the centre of Bawean tourism. The island is in the centre of Java and is very beautiful. Interestingly, most of the population is female, so the island is also called Putri Island. Not only are the island and beaches beautiful, but we can also see Bawean deer, which is one of the rare animals in Indonesia.

  • Gili Island

Sunrise and sunrise at Gili Beach are very beautiful. Gili Beach is famous for its white sand, natural atmosphere, and cool air. Snorkel and enjoy the underwater beauty at Gili Bawean. In addition, we can enjoy seafood collected by fishermen on Gili Island, one of which is fresh grilled fish.

  • Kastoba Lake

Paromaan village is located in Tambak sub-district. Kastoba Lake is in the centre of Bawean Island. To visit this lake, we have to walk about 500 metres. The lake is one of the government-protected nature reserves because it has shady trees and clear water. Therefore, the number of visitors allowed to enter each day is quite limited.

  • Noko Island

Noko Island is another place on Bawean Island that is suitable for snorkelling. The island has beautiful marine life, various types of fish, and beautiful coral flowers. In addition, the sand of Noko Island is very clean and beautiful. You can play by the beach all the time if you visit this island.

  • Mombhul Beach

The beauty of the vast blue sea water at Mombhul Beach is not to be missed. Everyone feels at home walking around the beach because it is very clean. Mombhul Beach is close to Pamona Pier, the first place people go to on Gili Island. There are also camping areas, gazebos, and beautiful photo spots there.

  • Mayangkara Beach

Mayangkara Beach has many fields that can be used to play football. Mayangkara Beach still has extraordinary natural beauty. This destination is a must-visit for its beautiful beach scenery, clear sea water, and coconut trees.

  • Laccar Waterfall

Located in Kebun Teluk Dalam Village, Sangkapura District, Bawean Island has a very beautiful waterfall amongst the beauty of its beaches. We have the opportunity to enjoy the view of a 25 metre high waterfall with a cliff landscape and a very beautiful natural landscape. We can also enjoy the fresh water from this waterfall.

How to Get to Bawean Island

  1. Express Bahari

This ship serves the Gresik-Bawean route on Thursday and Sunday at 09.00 WIB. VIP tickets cost Rp220,000 and Executive Rp170,000. In addition, on Monday and Saturday at 09.00 WIB, this ship serves the Gresik-Bawean route with a ticket price of Rp215,000 for VIP and Rp165,000 for Executive.

  • Express Natuna

Natuna Express also serves the Gresik-Bawean and Bawean Gresik routes, just like Express Bahari. However, the Gresik-Bawean route is every Monday and Wednesday at 09.00 WIB, and the Bawean Gresik route is every Tuesday and Thursday at 09.00 WIB. VIP and Executive tickets cost Rp162,500 and Rp146,000 respectively.

  • Gili Iyang

This ship serves the Gresik-Bawean and Paciran-Bawean routes as well. Ticket prices vary, starting from Rp61,000 for children and Rp80,000 for adults, and passengers carrying motorbikes are charged an additional Rp3,500. The departure schedule is almost every day except on Thursdays at 08.00 WIB, 09.00 WIB, and 21.00 WIB.
