WoS and Its’ index
Articles indexed in WoS ESCI (Emerging Sources Citation Index) cannot yet be used for professorship promotion applications, as this index is categorized as a collection of new journals with potential reputability, but it has not been fully recognized as a high-reputation journal index like Scopus Q1–Q4 or the main WoS indexes (SCI/SSCI/AHCI). Therefore, prospective professors need to be more careful and critical in examining the indexing qualifications of journals before submitting their articles, to ensure that their publications truly meet the applicable academic and administrative requirements.
The Web of Science (WoS) consists of several types of indexes, among which those recognized for international reputation—similar to Scopus—include:
- Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE): Covers scientific journals related to science and technology.
- Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI): Covers academic journals related to the social sciences.
- Arts & Humanities Citation Index (AHCI): Covers scholarly journals related to the arts and humanities.
